Kontigo Pledges Full Reimbursement After Stablecoin Security Breach
Venezuelan cryptocurrency platform Kontigo has committed to reimbursing $340,000 to users affected by a recent security breach. The company detected unauthorized access to its systems and immediately implemented emergency protocols—shutting down compromised infrastructure while assuring customers their funds were protected under its reimbursement policy.
CEO Jesús A. Castillo confirmed via social media that all losses WOULD be covered, stating: "We will resolve this in the next few hours; you can count on it." Kontigo's X account reiterated this guarantee, specifying refunds would cover "100% of the affected amounts" and directing impacted users to contact support teams.
Notably, Castillo claimed the perpetrators had been identified, though no details about the hackers or potential legal actions were disclosed. The breach highlights persistent security challenges in digital asset platforms, particularly those handling stablecoins—a segment increasingly targeted due to its liquidity and cross-border utility.
